Where it all begins, the A,B,C’s of design. There is no greater challenge than laying a strong foundation. However, within that challenge is the opportunity to learn from students fresh to design, who defy assumptions, and question conventions.
Non-verbal communication
The first venture into the world of design is an exploration of how visual and style choices affect perception. A shift in style can shift meaning, purpose, audience understanding and overall success. Students at this level are also developing the ability to communicate through a visual dialogue of symbols, icons, emojis, collage, and pattern-making.
Typography
Words are how we navigate the world around us, making typography THE essential tool for designers. From the early beginnings of letterform anatomy and grid systems, to beautifully designed editorial spreads, the following gallery runs the gambit of designing with words.
